In December, we welcomed as guest host the incredible Tony, Drama Desk, and Emmy nominee, John Tartaglia for A LITTLE NEW MUSIC 10!
A LITTLE NEW MUSIC was proud to present a landmark 10th showcase of fresh and original musical theater material with special guest host, JOHN TARTAGLIA, who brought his sparkling humor to this dynamic evening celebrating the next generation of musical theater artists. John’s no stranger to new musicals — he originated the role of “Pinocchio” in SHREK THE MUSICAL and he received a Tony nomination for originating (and puppeteering) the roles of “Princeton” and “Rod” in AVENUE Q. Amongst many successes as actor, creator, executive producer, comedian, and puppeteer, John also hosts the popular Sirius XM On Broadway radio show ‘Sunday Funday with John Tartaglia’.
This 10th concert included new works by composers and lyricists including Carner & Gregor (ISLAND SONG), Drew Fornarola (CLAUDIO QUEST), Mike Hadge (INNERNET: A MUSICAL.COM-EDY), Lee Huff (HOME: A MUSICAL FABLE), Brian Graden & Benjamin Boquist (SONGS OF THE FALL), Zach Spound, Wolfe & Miller, Andy Roninson, Alexi Kovin, Mitchell Glaser, and more.
Performers included Shelley Regner (PITCH PERFECT 2), Michael Thomas Grant (FOR THE RECORD: DEAR JOHN HUGHES), Marie-France Arcilla (SHOUT!), Emily Clark (SLIGHTLY DRAMATIC), Gabrielle Wagner (MAD MEN), Daniel May (FLOWER DRUM SONG), Sherry Mandujano (2 BROKE GIRLS), Jimmer Bolden (VISIONARY MAN), Tiana Okoye (CARRIE), and Cooper Howell (La Mirada’s RENT) to name a few. ALNM’s resident man on the keys, Bryan Blaskie, returned as music director backed by his band.
